The case was settled after a week of trial, just before submission of the case to the jury, for a confidential settlement amount.
Lead Counsel in a jury trial against a certified public accountant alleging a fraudulent scheme to turn over the assets of a successful pipe fabricating business to the accountant to avoid sizeable IRS debt. The jury returned a favorable verdict in favor of the client and against the accountant in the amount of 5.2 million dollars.
Lead Counsel in a medical negligence/post-mortem tort case against a hospital that fraudulently induced a widow to execute a consent for autopsy so that the cause of her husband’s death, while under the treatment for kidney stones, could not be investigated by the Harris County Medical Examiner or an independent forensic pathologist. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the widow, and against the hospital, in the amount of $1,000,000 for mental anguish damages, and $1,000,000 punitive damages.
